Questions & Answers
Land clearing questions, answered
Pricing, permits, equipment and how a job works. If you do not see your question, call or email and we will answer it.
How much does land clearing cost?
It depends on the lot, so we quote after a site visit. The biggest factors are the size of the area, how dense the growth is, the number and size of trees, how easily equipment can get in, how much has to be hauled off, and whether grading is included. Call or email the address and a few photos and we will schedule a visit.
Do I need a permit to clear my lot?
It depends on where the property is. Tree and vegetation rules vary by city and county, and they can be stricter near wetlands, for protected or heritage trees, and inside HOAs. In unincorporated Hillsborough County, clearing residential land generally requires a Land Alteration and Landscaping permit before work starts (county tree resources), and hauling off more than 10,000 cubic yards of earth requires a land excavation permit. Other counties and cities have their own rules; we summarize them on our county pages. Check with your city or county and your HOA before work starts, and bring it up when you ask for an estimate.
Do you pull permits?
Bring up permits when you request your estimate. What is required depends on the property, and we will go over it with you before we schedule the work.
How long does a clearing job take?
It depends on the size of the lot and how heavy the growth is. We give you a schedule estimate along with the price after the site visit.
What areas do you serve?
Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, Polk, Manatee and Sarasota counties. If you are near the edge of that area, call and ask.
What equipment do you use?
A 2023 John Deere 325G compact track loader for clearing, grading and material handling, a 2018 Ford F‑350 6.2L dually, and a 16×7×5 ft dump trailer. All of it is company-owned.
Do you do forestry mulching?
Our equipment is a compact track loader, which suits residential lots, infill parcels and small acreage. Large wooded tracts that need heavy forestry mulching are better served by a dedicated mulching machine, and we will tell you if that is what your job needs.
Do you haul away the debris?
Yes. Brush, spoil and job-site debris are hauled off with our own truck and dump trailer. See hauling.
Can you grade the lot after clearing?
Yes. The same crew can level and slope the cleared area for a building pad, driveway or drainage. See grading and site prep. We work to the plan or stakes you provide.
Do you work with builders, investors and real estate agents?
Yes. We work with homeowners, builders, investors and agents who need a lot cleared and graded before a build or a sale.
How do I get an estimate?
Call (813) 683-5127 or email deckeroperations@gmail.com with the property address and what you want done. We follow up to schedule a site visit and estimate.
What should I do before you arrive?
Have the property lines marked or a survey available, and tell us about any septic systems, wells, irrigation or buried lines. Florida’s 811 system exists so underground utilities can be located before excavation; ask us how it applies to your job. If you are in an HOA, confirm any approvals you need.
